BAU: Police are investigating a domestic assault case involving a woman who was allegedly attacked by her husband at a house in Kampung Jagoi Stass here early Thursday (Mar 26).
Bau police chief Act Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the incident occurred at about 12.30am following a dispute between the couple.
He said the suspect allegedly punched and slapped the victim several times, causing injuries to her face.
“The incident occurred in the living room shortly after the suspect returned home, where a verbal argument broke out between the suspect and the victim.
“The argument was believed to have been triggered by the suspect’s relationship with another woman, before the suspect allegedly punched and slapped the victim several times.
“Police also found that the victim and the suspect are no longer living together due to the suspect’s involvement with another woman,” he said in a statement.
The victim sustained bruises and pain on her cheek and has been referred for medical treatment.
Initial investigations found that the incident was witnessed by the couple’s daughter, who lodged the police report.
Police said the suspect has been identified and efforts are ongoing to locate him.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act.
