BAU: Police are investigating a bullying case after a female student sustained minor injuries during an incident at a school here yesterday (July 3).

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said police received a report on the incident, which occurred at about 10am.

He said the victim was allegedly pushed from behind by her classmate, causing her to fall and hit a metal structure attached to a whiteboard.

“The victim sustained minor cuts and abrasions on her left arm.

“She received treatment at the Singai Health Clinic and was reported to be in stable condition,” he said.

Mohd Haide said preliminary investigations found the suspect had allegedly harassed the victim on several occasions before the incident, including pulling her hair and pushing her.

He said the victim also claimed the suspect had frequently disturbed other students in the class.

“Police were informed that an initial complaint had been lodged with the school about two weeks before the incident.

“However, the victim did not pursue the matter further as she feared possible retaliation from the suspect,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 507B of the Penal Code.

Mohd Haide said the suspect had been identified and further investigations, including recording statements from witnesses, school authorities and obtaining the victim’s medical report, were ongoing.

He reminded students to refrain from all forms of bullying, whether physical, verbal or emotional, and urged parents to monitor changes in their children’s behaviour and report suspected bullying to the school or police.
