KOTA SAMARAHAN: Police are investigating a case in which an 11-year-old boy was allegedly slapped by a man in Kampung Asajaya Ulu here.

Kota Samarahan deputy police chief DSP Barry William said the incident occurred at Lorong 4 near Masjid Darul Solihin at about 9.30pm on Wednesday (Mar 11).

He said the suspect, believed to be a labourer in his 40s, allegedly struck the boy at the back of the head and slapped his cheek.

“The suspect claimed he confronted the child after suspecting that the boy had attempted to puncture the tyre of his vehicle,” he said.

The victim did not suffer serious injuries and was treated as an outpatient.

Barry added that there were no CCTV cameras at the scene and investigations are ongoing under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

The incident first gained attention on social media after photos showing marks on the boy’s cheek circulated widely on Facebook, prompting criticism from netizens.
