POLICE have referred a case to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take action against defamatory social media posts and comments targeting actress Alya Iman.

Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, said the case was handed over to MCMC after police received a report lodged by the actress.

According to Sulizmie, the report concerns viral social media posts accusing Alya of being the cause behind the reported breakdown of celebrity couple Yusuf Bahrin and Zizi Kirana’s marriage.

“This case involves negative postings on TikTok, Instagram, and news platforms that directly link the complainant (Alya) to the issue.

“It has been referred to MCMC for further action, including the removal of the posts and comments in question,” he said in a statement today.

Berita Harian previously reported that Alya Iman — whose full name is Nur Alya Iman Azmil — lodged a police report after her name began circulating online in connection with the alleged marital discord between actor Yusuf Bahrin and singer Zizi Kirana.

The 24-year-old actress stated that the defamatory claims not only threatened her acting career but had also taken a toll on her mental well-being.

She released an official statement addressing the online allegations, saying the rumours linking her to the couple’s supposed split had caused unnecessary distress and public scrutiny. – AFP
