SIBU: Police here made a major drug bust on Thursday, seizing over RM68,000 worth of illegal substances in three separate raids across Jalan Tong Sang, Jalan Merdeka and Jalan Langsat.
Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the swift operations, carried out between 10.15 pm and 11 pm, led to the arrest of a 57-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking.
“During the raids, officers uncovered a substantial stash of drugs, including 40,006 grammes (g) of Ecstasy powder and pills valued at RM45,006, 49.9g of Ketamine worth RM9,980, and 658 Erimin 5 pills weighing 187.3g, estimated at RM13,160,” he said in a statement today.
Adding to the takedown, police also confiscated a Perodua Kancil and a Yamaha Y100 motorcycle, collectively valued at RM7,000.
“A urine test on the suspect returned negative for drugs, and background checks confirmed he has no prior criminal record,” he added.
The case is now under investigation in accordance with Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“If convicted, the suspect faces either the death penalty or life imprisonment,” he said.
