KUCHING: Acting on intelligence, police moved in on a house in Kampung Goebilt here on Monday (March 30), leading to the arrest of a 39-year-old man and the seizure of methamphetamine and Erimin 5 worth RM1,030.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect was detained at about 3pm by a team from the district police headquarters’ Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID).
“Checks on the suspect led to the discovery of 7.90g of suspected methamphetamine and 2.40g of suspected Erimin 5,” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday (March 31).
ACP Alexson added that initial urine screening tests found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, while background checks revealed he has two prior criminal records.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a jail term of between two and five years, and whipping of between three and nine strokes upon conviction.”
The suspect has been remanded for four days from April 1 to 4 to assist investigations.
