Police top brass call on Head of State

KUCHING: The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today.

The IGP was accompanied by director of the Special Branch at Bukit Aman Datuk Ibrahim Darus; Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata; deputy director of the Special Branch at Bukit Aman Mohd Taufik Toh Abdullah; and Head of the Sarawak Special Branch SAC Mahbub Mustofa Norsalim.

The discussions covered a wide range of current issues, including security and peace in Sarawak, cybersecurity concerns and the role of the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC).

The meeting also highlighted the Sarawak Government’s support for the Governor’s proposal to enhance recognition and welfare for retired police personnel, particularly those who bravely served in combating communist insurgents in the past.

Wan Junaidi expressed his hope that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) would continue to uphold excellence, integrity and dedication in safeguarding the nation’s peace and security for the people’s well-being.
