MIRI: A stolen motorcycle reported missing five days ago has been recovered by police following the arrest of a local man on Sunday (Feb 16).
The vehicle was discovered abandoned in a bushy area near Ladang Tiga, Bekenu, after the suspect, arrested at a budget hotel in Bintulu, provided its location during police questioning.
According to authorities, the suspect fled from Miri to Bintulu after the theft and is believed to have attempted to sell the motorcycle to workers at an oil palm estate.
The police’s swift investigation and coordinated efforts led to the suspect’s capture and the retrieval of the stolen motorcycle.
The case is now being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries severe penalties for vehicle theft.
