KUCHING: Police are urging both individuals involved in the road accident at Jalan Satok, which went viral on social media yesterday (Apr 11), to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Acting Kuching police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said police investigations found that the incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 5.25 pm, involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian.

“The accident happened when a local man riding a motorcycle from the direction of the traffic lights at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg towards Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub collided with a local pedestrian who was crossing the road towards Wisma Satok.

“As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist fell and became wedged underneath the rear of a vehicle in the right lane of the road,” he said in a statement today.

He added that both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian sustained minor injuries and were taken to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment in the yellow zone.

“They were discharged on the same day and to date, neither party involved has come forward to lodge a police report,” he added.

He called on the individuals involved to contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Kuching District Police Headquarters to facilitate the investigation.

Merbin also reminded the public not to speculate or spread misleading information about the incident, as it could cause unnecessary public concern.
