KUCHING:The 2026 Sarawak Budget Conference will convene on Tuesday (Dec 16) and Wednesday (Dec 17), bringing together policymakers, economists, industry leaders and key stakeholders to deliberate on the state’s fiscal direction and development priorities for the coming year.
The two-day conference, to be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here, is expected to serve as a strategic platform to unpack the 2026 Sarawak Budget and align public and private sector stakeholders on Sarawak’s long-term economic and social aspirations.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to deliver the keynote address, outlining the state government’s vision under the 2026 budget framework, with emphasis on people-centric development, economic resilience and sustainable growth.
The conference will feature a series of plenary sessions and panel discussions focusing on fiscal outlooks, development planning, business competitiveness, and strategies to navigate global economic uncertainties while strengthening Sarawak’s domestic economy.
Participants are also expected to deliberate on the alignment between the state and federal budgets, as well as policy measures to enhance socio-economic outcomes, support businesses and improve public service delivery.
Organisers said the conference aims to provide clarity on policy direction while fostering constructive engagement among stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of budgetary measures.
