LIMBANG: Sarawak’s long-standing political stability under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) remains a key driver of the state’s consistent and sustainable development, said Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.
He said Sarawak has continued to enjoy sustainable development for more than 20 years as a result of political stability and the far-sighted leadership of GPS, even as the country faces political uncertainty at the federal level.
“Although the federal government frequently changes, GPS remains stable with its own leadership, particularly under the stewardship of the Premier of Sarawak. As such, Sarawak is seen as one of the states that continues to move forward,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Bukit Kota Sports Dinner on Saturday (Jan 31).
According to him, the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg consistently places emphasis on the welfare of the people, including efforts to gradually and sustainably increase the people’s income levels.
“The Sarawak government has a clear vision and mission, along with solid development planning. Therefore, strong support must be given to candidates chosen by the top leadership of GPS,” he said.
Commenting on speculation related to elections, he stressed that PBB and GPS are always prepared and will abide by any decision made by the party’s top leadership.
“Rumours about elections are indeed being actively discussed, but we are prepared and will follow whatever decision is made by the Premier of Sarawak,” he said.
He also stated that PBB Bukit Kota is in a state of readiness, with a strong party machinery that is committed to supporting the agenda and aspirations of the GPS leadership to ensure that the wellbeing of the people and the progress of Sarawak continue to be safeguarded.
Meanwhile, he praised the efforts of the PBB Bukit Kota Branch in strengthening unity and team spirit through the organisation of sports activities as well as fostering closer bonds and camaraderie among party members.
