KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has highlighted the nation’s stable political climate, commending the federal leadership under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for enhancing Malaysia’s standing on the international stage.

Speaking at the Majlis Sambutan Aidilfitri MADANI held at Stadium Perpaduan here today, the Premier emphasised that political stability has been instrumental in sustaining economic resilience, despite global uncertainties and efforts by certain quarters to impose trade barriers.

“Our economy continues to grow.

“Even as others speak of tariffs, we have managed to maintain a firm footing – thanks to solid national leadership,” he remarked.

He noted that the strong collaboration between the federal and Sarawak governments would pave the way for a brighter future for Malaysia and generations to come.

“Whenever we put forward ideas or propose economic strategies, the Prime Minister is open and receptive.

“This mutual understanding enables us to chart a new economic direction that leverages Sarawak’s strengths while making a meaningful contribution to national progress,” he said.

The Premier also spoke proudly of Sarawak’s rich multicultural tapestry, highlighting the state’s remarkable ability to embrace and celebrate its diversity.

“We have many celebrations – Chinese New Year, Aidilfitri, and soon, Gawai in June.

“This is the spirit of Sarawak: living as one big family under one roof. It is our greatest strength,” he added.

The event was attended by federal and state leaders, community representatives, and members of the public.
