LONDON: Ange Postecoglou has promised to deliver silverware for Nottingham Forest as he takes charge at the City Ground.
The Australian, 60, replaced Nuno Espirito Santo on Tuesday after the Portuguese coach fell out with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Marinakis pointed to Postecoglou’s proven record at Tottenham, Celtic, Yokohama F. Marinos and with Australia as the reason for his appointment.
“I love winning things. That’s what I’ve done,” Postecoglou said in his first interview. “The club wants more and that’s what I want too. It’s an exciting time.”
Forest, two-time European Cup winners, are back in the Europa League for the first time in 30 years after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season.
Postecoglou lifted the Europa League with Spurs last term, ending their 17-year wait for a trophy, but was sacked days later after a poor league campaign saw them finish 17th.
Critics have labelled his attacking approach naive, a sharp contrast to Nuno’s cautious style, but Postecoglou insisted it remains central to his philosophy.
“It’s no secret I like my teams to attack and score goals,” he said. “That’s because I love winning things, and that’s what I want to do here.”
