BAU: The Bung Bratak Cultural Centre has strengthened its role as a Bidayuh heritage and cultural tourism destination with the completion of a new electricity supply connection project under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) initiative.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said the facility would enhance the centre’s ability to support heritage preservation, cultural education and tourism activities.
“The provision of electricity supply is not merely to meet basic utility needs, but also to enhance the centre’s capacity to function effectively as a hub for heritage preservation, cultural education and a tourism destination,” he said.
He said this during the Completion Handover Ceremony of the Bung Bratak Cultural Centre project here yesterday.
Billy said the new electricity connection would enable more cultural programmes, youth activities, educational initiatives, research and tourism promotion efforts to be carried out, further promoting Bidayuh history and identity.
He added that the development of facilities at Bung Bratak should be seen as a long-term investment in preserving cultural heritage while stimulating the local economy through increased tourist arrivals.
He also called on the relevant agencies and the centre’s management to ensure proper maintenance of the electrical systems and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
