KUCHING: Pertubuhan Pengguna Sarawak (PPS) spread Christmas cheer to young patients at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) by distributing 127 care packs to children undergoing treatment in six paediatric wards.
The contribution was made in conjunction with the Christmas celebration as part of PPS’ ongoing festive outreach initiatives, aimed at bringing joy and hope to hospitalised children who are away from their families during the holiday season.
PPS president Dr Wynson Ong said the programme is a tradition carried out during every major festive season to ensure that children receiving medical treatment are not left out from experiencing the warmth and happiness of the celebrations.
“PPS believes every child deserves love and joy, especially during meaningful festive periods,” he said, adding that the organisation remains committed to continuing such initiatives as part of its social responsibility efforts.
The welfare programme was organised by PPS in collaboration with the International Education Legacy Foundation, reflecting a joint effort to foster compassion and humanitarian values within the community.
“The programme was supported by PPS members and volunteers, whose involvement ensured the smooth implementation and success of the event,” he said.
During the visit, Dr Ong also paid tribute to healthcare workers, whom he described as “white angels”, for their dedication and sacrifice in continuing to serve patients despite the festive season.
He said PPS, under his leadership, will continue to carry out welfare and community-based programmes as part of its commitment to giving back to society while nurturing empathy, care and unity among the people of Sarawak.
