KUCHING: The Sarawak Women’s Federation (PPWS) will incorporate the principle of sustainability into all its programmes, covering economic, environmental, social, training, and leadership aspects.
Chairperson Datuk Norhayati Mohd Ismail said by embedding sustainability into its initiatives, PPWS would ensure its long-term relevance.
“At the time, this also strengthened our role in shaping a more just and balanced society,” she said during the PPWS Day celebration here Sunday night (May 4).

Norhayati further said this year’s PPWS celebration carries the theme “PPWS: Wadah Wanita, Tonggak Kelestarian” and it reflects the federation’s commitment to empowering women in multiple areas of development, in line with national aspirations.
“Women are not only the backbone of the family but also key drivers of national progress in areas such as the economy, education, technology, and leadership.”
She said the successes achieved by women thus far prove they are capable of standing on equal footing with anyone.
“Therefore, it is important that women continue to be given opportunities to acquire knowledge and build personal strength to face the challenges of the modern world.”
Norhayati also stressed that women’s health and well-being must be prioritised, as they form the foundation of a prosperous life.
“There is a need for work-life balance and emotional support among women to help them remain resilient and strong.”
