KUCHING: The Sarawak Women’s Federation (PPWS) has been urged to continue serving as a strategic partner to the government in advancing the welfare and empowerment of women, particularly in facing current and emerging challenges.
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said PPWS has long proven its capacity to uplift women across the state since its founding in 1962.
“This is evident through its diverse training, leadership, and entrepreneurship programmes that have reached women of various backgrounds, including those in rural areas,” she said in a statement issued today in conjunction with the federation’s 63rd anniversary.
Nancy congratulated PPWS on the milestone, acknowledging its instrumental role in shaping women’s development and strengthening the family institution in Sarawak.
“Through its sustained efforts, PPWS has successfully cultivated a generation of independent, skilled, and competitive women,” she said.
As a life member of the federation, Nancy expressed pride in being part of its impactful journey.
“I have personally witnessed the spirit of volunteerism and grassroots leadership that PPWS fosters among its members. This reflects the strength and progressive spirit of Sarawak’s women,” she said.
