JAKARTA: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Seoul, South Korea, for a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding strategic cooperation, after concluding his official visit to Japan.
According to a statement from the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat, the presidential aircraft, Garuda Indonesia-1, landed at Seongnam Air Base at about 7.15 pm local time on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, Prabowo was accorded an official welcoming ceremony, including a guard of honour comprising 20 personnel and a 21-gun salute.
He was received by South Korea’s Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment, Kim Sung-hwan; Ambassador-designate to Indonesia, Yoon Soongu; and Chief of State Protocol, Kim Tae-jin.
Also present were Indonesia’s Ambassador to South Korea, Cecep Herawan, and Defence Attaché in Seoul, Colonel (Pnb) Muhammad Arif.
During his stay, Prabowo is scheduled to undertake a series of engagements, including an official welcoming ceremony hosted by the South Korean President at the Blue House.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Indonesia and South Korea, while opening broader opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Prior to arriving in Seoul, Prabowo departed from Haneda Airport in Tokyo at 5.15 pm local time after completing a series of official engagements in Japan, including a state call with Emperor Naruhito and a meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. – BERNAMA
