KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chongqing Rail Transit to strengthen strategic cooperation in enhancing monorail operational capabilities, system reliability, technical expertise and talent development.
In a statement today, Prasarana said the MoU, signed on July 9 at Menara Prasarana, was formalised by its Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Amir Hamdan, and Chongqing Rail Transit Chairman and General Manager, Hu Zhiyong.
The collaboration will focus on sharing best practices in system reliability and asset management, operational digitalisation, data analytics, predictive maintenance, and operational and safety standards. It will also cover workforce competency development through joint training programmes, technical visits and the exchange of expertise.
Amir said the partnership would provide Prasarana with greater access to global best practices in rail system reliability, maintenance strategies and operational efficiency.
“This knowledge-sharing partnership is crucial to ensuring commuters continue to enjoy safer, smoother and more reliable services,” he said.
He added that the collaboration with CRT, one of the world’s leading monorail operators, would strengthen the operational ecosystem of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail, which has served commuters for more than two decades, by incorporating technological advancements and international best practices.
As part of the collaboration, the CRT delegation also visited the Kuala Lumpur Monorail Depot to observe Prasarana’s daily operations and maintenance practices.
Prasarana said the MoU provides a framework for exploring strategic collaboration opportunities without involving any financial commitment at this stage.
It also establishes a joint communication mechanism to coordinate the implementation of initiatives and periodically monitor the partnership’s progress.
The statement added that through this partnership, Prasarana and CRT share the aspiration to further enhance the operational excellence of the monorail system, thereby providing safer, more efficient, and sustainable public transport services to the public.
The company said both organisations share the goal of enhancing the operational excellence of the monorail system to deliver safer, more efficient and sustainable public transport services. – BERNAMA
