SIBURAN: Sixteen residents were left homeless after a pre-dawn blaze destroyed a double-storey house and damaged two others at Taman Beverly Garden, Jalan Kuching-Serian, today.
Two vehicles and two motorcycles – Toyota Unser, Perodua Viva, Yamaha LC135 and Yamaha 100 – were also gutted in the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 3.50 am incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Siburan, Kota Sentosa and Batu Lintang stations were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they confirmed the houses were on fire and performed the extinguishing work using water sourced from the fire engines.
The first house, completely destroyed by the fire, was occupied by 10 residents.
The second house suffered about 60 per cent damage while the third house, occupied by six people, sustained about 40 per cent damage.
Overhaul works were later conducted to ensure there was no further danger and the situation was fully under control, before the operation ended at 7.10 am.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
