Premier breaks fast with civil servants

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg joined state civil servants for an Iftar programme followed by Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex, yesterday (Mar 6) strengthening ties between the state leadership and government officers.

The event also saw 100 civil servants receiving financial aid as part of the MAKSAK Cares Sincere Contribution programme, an initiative by the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak Women Division.

Each recipient received RM100 via S Pay Global and an RM100 Emart cash voucher.

The contributions were presented by Datin Amar Enn Ong Siok Ean, wife of Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, and witnessed by MAKSAK Women Sarawak chairperson Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, and other members.

The programme was a collaboration between MAKSAK Women Sarawak and Emart Holdings Sdn Bhd under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative with a total contribution amounting to RM10,000.

Abang Johari was accompanied by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The initiative aims to ease the financial burden of government officers and encourage a spirit of generosity during Ramadan.
