BINTULU: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has called on Sarawakians to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies as the state prepares for a rapidly changing global economy.

He said the education system must equip students with the necessary skills to navigate an economic landscape increasingly driven by digital innovation, renewable energy, hydrogen development, and AI-powered solutions.

“Everything now is assisted by AI. It helps us find solutions to problems and manage our new economy.

“Our children must be trained today to be ready for tomorrow,” he said at the SMK Kai Dee Bintulu’s 25th Anniversary Dinner held at a hotel here, last night (Aug 23).

Abang Johari stressed the importance of preparing Sarawakian students to compete at the global level.

“The future demands that our children master digital technology, renewable energy, hydrogen innovation, and AI.

“Education is the key, and we must prepare them now for the economy of tomorrow,” he said.

He added that Sarawak’s economic strategy focuses on transforming its industries through advanced technologies, emphasising that AI will play a vital role in enhancing the state’s competitiveness.

“As we move forward, Sarawak must continue to embrace change and innovation.

“If we equip our young people with the right knowledge and skills, we will be ready to face the challenges of the future,” he added.
