KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg spent time with the locals in a casual engagement at the Metrocity Youth Night Market here last night.
He arrived at 8.35 pm riding a Honda Spyder 3-wheel motorcycle, and was warmly welcomed by visitors and vendors at the night market.
As a symbolic gesture, the Premier signed a plaque inscribed with “Premier Sarawak Ada Santai Sitok” before beginning his walkabout to engage with traders and the customers.
His visit started at the AZ Blind Massage booth before continuing to other sections of the market.
Abang Johari also visited the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) registration counter, set up at the market to facilitate registrations.
Additionally, he stopped by a plant stall and purchased two types of plants namely ‘Limau Purut’ plant and a Musang King durian sapling.
Supporting local traders, the Premier also bought ‘cempedak’ fruit before enjoying a meal at the Char Kuey Teow Tapak Kuning stall close to 10 pm.
This casual programme reflects the Premier’s commitment to engaging with the locals and supporting small entrepreneurs in Sarawak.
Abang Johari spent approximately an hour at the venue before departing at around 9.35 pm.
Among those present were his chief Political Secretary Datuk Fazruddin Abdul Rahman; Metrocity Youth Night Market chairman Mohammad Khairuzie Bolhassan and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) deputy mayor Datuk Dr Zaiedi Suhaili.
