Premier in China to bolster government and industry ties

NANJING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is undertaking a four-day working visit to Nanjing, Suzhou and Shanghai from December 10 to 13.

The working visit will focus on strengthening government-to-government ties and expanding cooperation in energy and industrial development.

The Premier arrived at Nanjing Lukou International Airport today with his first engagement set to be a welcoming dinner hosted by PETROS later this evening.

On Thursday (Dec. 11), the Premier and his delegation will travel to the historic Xikang Guesthouse in Nanjing for a high-level dialogue with the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, involving senior provincial leaders including Governor Liu Xiaotao.

The closed-door session will be followed by a luncheon hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Government.

The itinerary will continue with a visit to the headquarters of China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI) for a tour and the signing of a Framework Agreement between PETROS and CJI, witnessed by the Premier.

A joint press conference will take place before the delegation travels to Suzhou, where CJI will host a networking dinner.

On Friday (Dec. 12), the Premier will begin the day at the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), one of China’s leading high-tech and industrial hubs.

His programme includes a briefing at the Exhibition Hall, a meeting with the SIP Administrative Committee, and a luncheon hosted by the committee.

This will be followed by site visits to selected enterprises within SIP and a press conference.

The working visit will conclude on Saturday (Dec. 13) with the Premier’s departure from Shanghai Pudong International Airport scheduled at 11:00 am.
