MUKAH: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today launched MISPRO, a digital application developed to strengthen mosque management across Sarawak.

The application was developed by the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) in collaboration with HPCS Sdn Bhd and Affin Islamic Bank Bhd.

Abang Johari said the collaboration represented a strategic step towards improving the council’s services to the community.

“This will be a strategic initiative to enhance our services to the Muslim community and possibly the non-Muslim community as well,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the ‘Ziarah Mahabbah Majlis Islam Sarawak 1448H/2026M’ event and launching MISPRO at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja here.

Abang Johari noted that Affin Islamic Bank was a subsidiary of Affin Bank Bhd, in which the Sarawak Government became the largest shareholder last year.

He said Sarawak’s economic strength had enabled it to regain a significant presence in the banking sector after several locally established banks were absorbed by larger institutions in the past.

“Through our cooperation and economic strength, Sarawak has acquired the largest shareholding in Affin Bank.

“Now, we are collaborating with them to strengthen the services provided to our community,” he said.

He added that Sarawak’s strategic investments, including its controlling stake in Affin Bank and the takeover of Bintulu Port, were made possible by the state’s unity and political stability.

“Through sound management and investments, we can also contribute towards strengthening the national economy.

“This is possible because we are united. If we were constantly quarrelling, we would not be able to achieve any of this,” he said.
