KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has received an official invitation to visit Denmark, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring strategic cooperation in green technology.
Denmark’s Ambassador to Malaysia Kirstine Vangkilde Berner told a press conference this after paying a courtesy call on the Premier at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here today.
TVS reported that the hour-long meeting focused on potential collaboration in the renewable energy sector, particularly hydrogen and carbon capture technologies.
“Denmark has a strong presence in the green energy sector, with experienced companies offering innovative solutions, from green hydrogen to carbon capture technology.
“We see great potential for collaboration with Sarawak in its energy transition journey,” Berner said.
Beyond energy, the two parties also explored opportunities in education, with Denmark expressing interest in supporting Sarawak’s education agenda.
Berner said Denmark’s political leadership has commended Sarawak’s commitment to energy transition and sustainable development.
She added that Denmark is also ready to expand cooperation in other sectors, including aerospace and artificial intelligence, in line with Sarawak’s ambitions for a high-tech economy.
At the same time, she reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Malaysia, describing the country as a strategic hub in Southeast Asia.
This is Berner’s first visit to Sarawak since her appointment as Denmark’s Ambassador to Malaysia last year.
