BINTULU: Inclusive development in both urban and rural areas remains a key agenda of the Sarawak government.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this will ensure the state’s progress is enjoyed comprehensively and equitably by the people, in line with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

He added that this approach not only focuses on physical development but also emphasises on strengthening social bonds as a foundation for creating a harmonious, stable and united society.

“Unity is important to ensure that the development carried out can be enjoyed comprehensively by the people and to create a harmonious and stable society,” he was quoted as saying in an UKAS report.

He said this in a speech read by Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh at the Aidilfitri gathering with the Sarawak Premier held at Dewan Suarah Bintulu on Monday (March 30).

According to him, the implementation of inclusive development aligns with the three main pillars of PCDS 2030: economic prosperity, social well-being, and environmental sustainability, which guide the state’s development direction.

He added that such events serve as important platforms to strengthen ties between the people and leaders, build trust, and reinforce the spirit of unity among a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural society.

In terms of local development, he said that Bintulu serves as an example of close collaboration between the government, industry, and community in creating a balanced and harmonious development ecosystem.

He emphasised that the true strength of the state lies not only in physical progress but also in social unity, which underpins long-term stability and prosperity. In this regard, he said, the Sarawak government will remain committed to ensuring that development is balanced, including strengthening the local economy, developing sustainable towns, and continuously safeguarding the welfare of the people
