KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg visited the residence of Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute director Datuk Dr Lulie Melling following the passing of her husband, James Alfred Chabu, on Wednesday (Feb 11).
The Premier’s presence reflected the state government’s concern and support for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
In extending his condolences to Dr Lulie, he also met with family members and offered words of comfort, encouraging them to remain strong in facing the loss.
Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai and Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Martin Ben were also present to pay their last respects and convey their sympathies to the family.
Former Sarawak state secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion described the late James’ passing as a significant loss to many.
“James’ passing is deeply felt by many, especially his friends and acquaintances.
“He was a kind person who was approachable to all,” he told reporters when met.
The late James passed away on Tuesday at the age of 65, and is remembered as a friendly and well-liked individual whose passing has left a deep impact not only on his family, but also on his friends.
