BAU: The newly completed Siniawan Waterfront will be officially declared opened by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg this Saturday, announced Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh.

The launch is the highlight of a four-in-one celebration that also includes the 2025 Siniawan Country Music Festival (SCMF), the 185th anniversary of Siniawan Town, and the 15th anniversary of the Siniawan Night Market.

Miro said that the waterfront, built at a cost of RM10.8 million, is set to become an iconic attraction that will enhance the heritage town’s charm and draw more visitors.

“This year is very special for Siniawan as we are hosting four major events at once.

“With the new facilities, we believe the town will become more beautiful, unique and attractive to tourists in the years ahead,” he said during a press conference at Bau District Office here on Wednesday.

Miro, who is also the advisor of the SCMF said that the highlight is the 8th edition of SCMF, now recognised as the largest country music festival in Asia.

“So far, there is no other festival of its kind in the region, making Siniawan the sole host of Asia’s biggest country music event,” he said.

The three-night festival, running from Sept 26 to 28, will feature performances from bands across the region including Kalimantan, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak.

Miro said that last year’s event drew 15,000 to 17,000 visitors. With the larger venue and wider promotions this year, organisers expect 18,000 to 20,000 visitors over the three days.

Meanwhile, he revealed that plans on the second phase of the waterfront project, costing RM4 million, is expected to be signed this year with works to commence in 2026.

He also disclosed that plans for a RM28 million multi-storey car park are set to be signed by November or December, with construction slated to begin next year.

“With more facilities and continued promotions, we are confident Siniawan will continue to grow as a heritage and tourism hub,” he added.
