KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is set to officiate the Sarawak International Digital Economy Conference 2025 (IDECS 2025) on October 22 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
Carrying the theme ‘AI & Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges and Community Resilience’, the two-day conference on October 22 and 23 marks its eighth edition and is expected to draw around 10,000 participants.
Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said this year’s organising committee has introduced several new features, including the participation of world-renowned experts in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.
“The four keynote speakers are James Barrat, author of ‘Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era’ ; Dr Ayesha Khanna, global AI expert and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ADDO; Dr Justin Cohen, a leading expert in human transformation through AI; and Scott Bales, a futurist and specialist in innovation strategy, digital transformation, and leadership,” he told a press conference today.
Julaihi, who had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Premier at Satria Pertiwi Complex, added that school students are also encouraged to attend the event to witness the exhibitions and presentations.
Also present at the press conference were State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani; Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) General Manager, Datuk Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng; and SDEC’s CEO, Datuk Ir Ts Sudarnoto Osman.
