KUCHING: The Sarawak government will use this new year 2025 to prepare for offering free higher education.

In his New Year message, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg reiterated that free tertiary education for Sarawakians will be implemented in 2026.

“Therefore, let us join hands to work together to ensure that every Sarawakian benefits from development, regardless of background, religion, or ethnicity.

“The spirit of unity nurtured over the years is the foundation of our strength to face challenges and achieve success,” he said.

As the Finance and New Economy Minister, Abang Johari further stated a Mid-Term Review of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 will be carried out this year.

“The review will evaluate the success of programs and projects under PCDS 2030.

“I am confident that all infrastructure projects, water supply projects, programs to upgrade internet connectivity, and social welfare programs funded by the state government will continue to progress successfully by 2030,” he said.
