GYEONGJU, South Korea: President Lee Jae Myung on Friday vowed to ease unnecessary regulations and expand support for advanced industries to attract more investment to South Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported.
Lee made the pledge during a meeting with members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council in the southeastern city of Gyeongju.
“When I took office in June, I promised to make a practical, market-friendly government.
“To fulfil that promise, we are boldly streamlining unnecessary regulations and expanding support for future industries, with efforts underway both domestically and internationally,” he said.
Lee said South Korea, as this year’s APEC Chair, has reviewed the implementation of previously agreed commitments in areas such as services, the digital economy, investment promotion, and structural reform, and has drawn up action plans that reflect the changing global environment.
“These collective efforts will drive the growth and advancement of the Korean economy. I am confident that the Republic of Korea will emerge as an even more attractive destination for global investment,” he said. – BERNAMA-YONHAP
