KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has urged the Baitulmal and Waqf Board to place greater emphasis on educational development, aligning their efforts with Sarawak’s plan to implement free tertiary education starting in 2026.
He made this call during a courtesy visit by board members at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (July 1), where he was briefed on the latest operational updates of Baitulmal and Waqf institutions across the state.
Abang Johari stressed that the education sector should be a key focus area, in line with the state’s long-term vision of human capital development.
Among those present were board members Datuk Abang Helmi Tan Sri Abang Ikhwan, State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, and Sarawak Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin.
From Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS), present were chief executive officer Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie and board members consists of Bolhassan Iskandar Taibi, Abang Faisal Abang Marzuki, and Iskandar Allan.
