MIRI: The Sebup community have been told to prioritise education in their lives. The Sebup is a sub-Kenyah group in Sarawak, mostly found in longhouses along Ulu Tinjar in the Telang Usan state constituency.
Telang Usan state assemblyman Dennis Ngau gave the advice during the Sebup community’s inaugural dinner gathhering held at a leading hotel here last Friday.
“With education, some individuals in your community now stand tall among the successful people in the country,” he pointed out.
He added education had made them successful. At the event, Dennis received a copy of the first and only Sebup-Bahasa Malaysia dictionary from the writer Clement Langet Sabang who is also the organising committee chairman of the inaugural dinner
gathering.
More than 200 guests from the Sebup community attended the gathering. Dennis also allocated RM10,000 to the Sebup association for it to organise more activities in the future.
