SIBU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has called on the Rimbunan Hijau (RH) Group and other private sector players to continue collaborating with government agencies to support Sarawak’s development.

“I hope (the private sector) will continue contributing to Sarawak’s growth and help shape it into a prosperous state where all Sarawakians can live in peace and harmony,” he said in a personal message read out by his Political Secretary Irwan Zulkanain Muhammad Hasbie, who represented him at the RH Group Golden Jubilee Celebration Golf Tournament held here today (May 12).

Adding on, Irwan said RH Group has grown from humble beginnings into a multinational corporation with operations not only in Malaysia but also in Papua New Guinea, Canada, Russia, Australia, Singapore, the United States, and China.

“This industry has created countless job opportunities—not just for Sarawakians and Malaysians, but also across the supply chain and manufacturing sector.

“The government appreciates such private sector initiatives. RH has long demonstrated a strong synergy with public agencies to help grow both the local and national economy,” he said.

He also commended RH for organising the tournament, noting that it required dedication and effort.

RH Group executive director Tiong Chiong Ong, in his welcoming speech, said the event brought together over 100 skilled golfers from across Sarawak.

“This tournament is where talent meets—not only to compete but to foster camaraderie, making it even more meaningful,” he said.

Tiong noted that golf is a sport requiring strength, intelligence, and focus.

“It’s also a great way to enjoy the outdoors. While some used to see it as an elite sport, growing interest among youth proves otherwise.

“Golf suits people of all ages and genders. It can also be a bonding activity—for example, between father and son—encouraging shared conversations and experiences,” he added.

In the tournament, Nazrul Ahmad won the nett category, followed by Mohammad Ramezan Ramli in second and Mohamad Lukas Lim in third. In the gross category, Raymond Ling took first place, with Abdul Hakim Hilmi and Andy Hii Siik Kiong placing second and third respectively.
