TANJUNG MANIS: The Project of Dream Realised (PRO-DR) has been hailed as a strategic initiative to nurture a generation of knowledgeable and technically skilled youth in Sarawak, aligning with the demands of modern industries.

Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the programme places strong emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

“PRO-DR is essential in exposing our Form Four and Form Five students to post-SPM education pathways. Many still lack access to information, and this initiative provides a clearer direction for their future.”

Len Talif made the remarks while officiating the 10th series of the PRO-DR roadshow at Dewan IKS here on Wednesday (Aug 6).

To encourage early interest in technology, he said PRO-DR also supports the T&T Mini Lab initiative, which serves as a digital innovation space in rural schools.

The initiative introduces students to basic programming, robotics and drone handling through interactive learning methods.

“To date, T&T Mini Labs have been implemented in 25 schools, including SMK Belawai.

“This helps close the digital gap between urban and rural students, while building their confidence to compete in the digital economy.”

However, he stressed that the success of such high-impact programmes depends on cooperation from various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, local communities, the private sector, industry players and NGOs.

“We cannot move forward in isolation. A supportive ecosystem is key to building an inclusive and sustainable education landscape.”

To support these efforts, he announced an allocation of RM15,000 for the establishment of a T&T Mini Lab at SMK Belawai, aimed at boosting education quality and sharpening student talent in innovation and technology.

Len Talif, who is also the Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, urged all parties to continue supporting PRO-DR as a long-term investment in Sarawak and the nation’s future.
