KUALA LUMPUR: The police are looking at various angles in their investigation into the Molotov cocktail attack on Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s house in Ayer Tawar, Perak yesterday, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

He said this includes collecting intelligence information from the Special Branch and also public tip-offs.

Razarudin said the police would also identify whether the case had any connection with the comments made by Ngeh before this.

“If there is an arrest then we will know if there is any relation,” he told Bernama last night.

He added that intelligence also found that Ngeh had no issues with the community in Ayer Tawar.

“I urge the community not to make any speculations regarding this incident because the investigation is still ongoing,” he said.

Earlier, Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the police are hunting for the individual suspected of hurling a Molotov cocktail into the house of Ngeh, which damaged three vehicles.

Meanwhile, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang has urged the public against disseminating false information on the alleged arson attack on Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s house, especially if it can affect the sensitivity of the people.

While waiting for further investigation and legal action to be taken, he also urged the community to continue to strengthen peace, community resilience and security together.

“I strongly condemn the attack. This act not only violates the laws of the country, but also threatens order and peace among the multi-racial community,” he said in a statement.

He said that the incident was an insult to the spirit of unity and harmony that had been forged since independence.

“Efforts to strengthen and unite Malaysians have always been the priority of the unity government. I believe that the solidarity and spirit of togetherness of Malaysians will be the main bulwark in dealing with threats to the unity and harmony of the country,” he added. – BERNAMA
