Producing tech-savvy youth via innovations

SIBU: The organising of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Carnival at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Rosli Dhoby here is seen as a proactive step in producing a young generation who are tech-savvy and innovative, in line with the needs of today’s digital era.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Adana Jed, stressed that the school’s initiative should be praised and emulated by other educational institutions in the Sibu district.
“In facing the challenges of the digital era, we need young people who are not only skilled in using technology, but also capable of creating innovative solutions.
“Carnivals like this provide a space not only to compete and showcase talent, but also serve as a platform to hone critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit among students,” he said at the STEM carnival’s opening ceremony recently.
Adana was represented by MEITD Sector Head, Ismandy Ali, who delivered his text of speech.
Also present were SMK Rosli Dhoby Principal, Hipnee Piee; Sibu District Education Assistant Officer, Jeremy Ling and the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairperson, Christcharlynn Anthony.
According to Adana, MEITD is always committed to supporting various educational initiatives that can empower the STEM field among students, in line with the country’s aspiration to produce internationally competitive human capital.
He also expressed his appreciation to all parties who have contributed energy and ideas in making the carnival a success
“Congratulations to the teachers who have worked hard and the students who have shown extraordinary creativity and enthusiasm throughout this programme.
“It is hoped that this carnival will trigger more high-impact efforts in strengthening STEM education in our country.
“This carnival seen as not just an annual event, but as an important platform in bringing students closer to the world of science and technology, thus fostering a future generation that is innovative, knowledgeable and ready to face global challenges,” Adana added.
