KUCHING: The Batu Kawa State Assemblyman Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian (pic) Thursday announced that the Batu Kawa Constituency had been awarded more than six million ringgit worth of projects this year.
The projects, comprising more than 31 items, were awarded under the rural transformation programme (RTP).
Dr. Sim who is also the Minister of Local Government and Housing said, these rural transformation development projects to be implemented in Batu Kawa, do not include those projects to be implemented by the other government agencies and departments, including Padawan Municipal Council (PMC), DID, PWD and others.
He added that these 31 projects are parts of the Batu Kawa state assemblyman’s development programme. In addition, the PWD had allocated 800,000 ringgit for the installation of street lightings, while the DID would also implement projects worth more than seven million ringgit in Batu Kawa constituency.
He said, more development projects and upgrading projects are to be implemented in Batu Kawa constituency in the years ahead. These projects are awarded from two sectors, namely from the related government departments and from the Batu Kawa State Assemblyman’s development programme.
Some of these rural transformation development projects, he added, had been completed while some others had completed the public tender process.
Listed under Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) 2017 in Batu Kawa are constructions of halls such as Upgrading Dewan Sinar Budi Baru, Upgrading Dewan SPS Stapok, New Dewan for Taman Kwong Tiong, New Dewan for Kampung DesaWira, Lorong 17/51 and Upgrading Balai Raya Kampung Desa Wira Lot, Batu Kawa.
Then there are futsal projects in the constituency including Upgrading Futsal for Kampung Sinar Budi Baru and New Futsal Court for Kampung Sinar Budi Lama.
For Drainage and Culvert the projects are Upgrading culvert at Jalan Sin San Tu B (Culvert 1); Upgrading culvert atJalan Sin San Tu B (Culvert 2); Upgrading culvert at Jalan Sin San Tu B (Culvert 3);
Upgrading culvert at Jalan Sin Chern, Off Jalan Sin San Tu B; Upgrading culvert at Jalan Pei Yuan Selatan (two culverts; Upgrading drainageat RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1; Upgrading drainageat RPR Batu Kawa Phase 2; New concrete drains at JalanDesaWira, Lorong 20; Upgrading culvert at Jalan Ngee Soon; Upgrading drain at Jalan Taman Sri Emas; Upgrading drainage at Kampung Rantau Panjang; Upgrading drains at Desa Wira; Upgrading drains at Stapok Resettlement Scheme; Upgrading drains at Taman Kwong Thiong, Jalan Stephen Yong, Lorong 2 and Upgraading drains at Rose Garden, Jalan Batu Kawa.
There is a surau project namely Upgrading of Surau Wastu An-Nahri, Kampung Tengah Sungai, Batu Kawa.
Two Riverbank Projects in the area include Upgrading riverbank at Segubang Temple off Batu Kawa and Embankment Protection at Kampung Sinar Budi Baru and Taman Desa Ria (DesaWira), Batu Kawa.
There two bridge projects namely Upgrading Bridge at Hujung Pei Yuan Selatan, Batu Kawa and Upgrading of bridge at Jalan Kim Chu Seng, Lorong 2, Batu Kawa.
A streetlighting project is the ‘Installation of Street Lighting from Desa Wira to City Mall’, Batu Kawa. There have been three road upgrading projects namely at Peiyen Selatan, at Jalan Kampung Stapok and upgrading of road at Desa Wira, Batu Kawa.
