SIBU: The Proton e.MAS 7 has secured over 4,000 bookings and has officially become Malaysia’s number one electric vehicle (EV) in sales for January 2025, with 421 units already on the road.
Disclosing this, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (Pro-net) head of user operation, Lampard Peng Yile said the Proton e.MAS 7, introduced on Dec 16 last year, reflects Proton’s dedication to innovation and a greener future.
“This translates into a 25 per cent market share in the EV segment within Malaysia’s automative landscape,” he said at the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Proton e.MAS 3S showroom owned by Ngu Motor Sdn Bhd (Ngu Motor), at Oya Road here today (Feb 18).
Lampard praised Ngu Motor for completing all the setup and preparation for the grand opening in just 60 days since the start of construction.
This, he pointed out, fully reflects the Ngu Motor management team’s recognition of the Proton and Proton e.MAS brands, as well as their support for sustainable mobility.
“With the opening of this new Proton e.MAS 3S showroom, we mark another important milestone in our collaboration.
“We also understand that range anxiety remains a key concern whenowning an EV. That’s why we strive to minimise this worry through our integrated live charging map, which provides 85 per cent coverage of charging points nationwide.

“With a single click on your app or dashboard, you can now drive with greater peace of mind,” he assured.
Adding on, Lampard is pleased to share that this 3S showroom also features the first DC charger in Sibu which is open to the public and accessible through the REXHARGE app.
He stressed that this marks another step in making EV ownership more seamless and convenient for all.
With this new 3S showroom, alongside Pro-net’s network of 30 operational dealers, Pro-net is bringing the future of mobility closer to more Malaysians, making cutting-edge EV technology more accessible.
“We are confident that this new 3S showroom will thrive and set new benchmarks in delivering exceptional service to the customers,” Lampard added.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Ngu Motor director Jeffrey Ngu Heng Hing said in the rapid growth of the automotive industry in Malaysia, Proton continues to stand as a symbol of national pride, pushing the boundaries of technology, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Ngu Motor, he asserted, is proud to be part of this journey, bringing Proton’s excellence closer to the people of Sibu.
