MIRI: Parti Rakyat Sarawak’s (PRS) decision to keep all top posts open for contests at its Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) has won the approval of its Youth wing.
Its Deputy Youth Chief Surai Anthony Abell, said this commitment highlights the party’s dedication to democratic principles, showcasing its respect for a long-standing tradition of open and transparent leadership contests.
“Being a vital pillar in the party, PRS Youth fully subscribes to the democratic principles that form the foundation of our elections.
“We recognise that open and transparent contests strengthen the party’s internal governance and reinforce public confidence in our leadership and vision for the future,” he said in a media statement.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining party unity during the process.
“We would like to emphasise the importance of maintaining unity within the party as we progress.
“We have confidence in our leaders, who are professional and courageous enough to make a significant difference to the party’s growth and progress to ensure that we remain relevant,” he stressed.
The PRS Youth also called for a prompt establishment of a Party Election Committee.
“This step is crucial to ensure early preparation and to guarantee that all processes are conducted strictly under the party constitution,” he said.
Surai said members must uphold transparency, fairness and the spirit of unity as they navigate this pivotal moment in the party’s journey.
“This move will rejuvenate the party’s image and align our progress with the dynamic aspirations of other GPS component parties,” he added.
