KUCHING: The Premier of Sarawak Industry Excellence Awards (PSIEA) continues to play a vital role in fostering a resilient and forward-looking business ecosystem in the state, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

He said Sarawak’s journey toward becoming a future-ready economy relies heavily on the ability of its industries to adapt, modernise, and respond effectively to changing market dynamics.

“Through initiatives like PSIEA, we hope to inspire local businesses to embrace innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness,” he said in a speech delivered by Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh at the launch of PSIEA held at the Tegas Digital Village Auditorium here today.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, said recognising outstanding companies through the awards helps create a ripple effect throughout the local economy by encouraging others to raise their standards and adopt best practices.

“Awards like PSIEA not only acknowledge current accomplishments but also ignite a sense of purpose for continuous improvement and transformative growth.

“As we set our sights on Vision 2030, each success story becomes a stepping stone toward a more advanced and inclusive Sarawak,” he said.

He added that PSIEA continues to benchmark itself against prestigious national awards such as the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI), which reinforces its high standards and credibility.

“By aligning with national benchmarks and embracing best practices, Sarawak’s industries are better positioned to scale, compete, and gain international recognition.

“These achievements not only elevate individual businesses but also enhance Sarawak’s overall economic profile at the national and global level,” he said.

Awang Tengah also expressed confidence in the local business community’s capacity to lead with excellence and innovation, and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to industrial and economic transformation.

“Let us continue to support one another, share knowledge, and build synergies between the government, industry, and academia.

“Together, we can foster a dynamic and robust economic future anchored on innovation, sustainability, and shared prosperity for all Sarawakians,” he said.
