KUCHING: Society across the country is urged to take shared responsibility in widely disseminating the concept and direction of Malaysia MADANI, alongside government agencies and the private sector.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that the MADANI framework, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is a holistic and integrated initiative aimed at making national policies and implementation more humane, continuously improved through public consultation and feedback.
“In this concept, implementation is anchored in strong unity and the principle of justice, which must be felt by every racial and ethnic group in this diverse country,” he said.
He said this in his speech read by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali during the closing ceremony of the Transformasi Minda MADANI workshop at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here today.
Fadillah emphasised that the Malaysia MADANI mission requires the full and continued commitment of all levels of society – from national leaders to grassroots communities, from corporations to local residents, and from the older generation to today’s youth.
“In Sarawak, this collective approach is especially meaningful, as our strength lies in our cultural and ethnic diversity.
“Every ethnic group – whether Malay, Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Chinese, Indian, or others – must come together as Team Sarawak to realise the aspirations of MADANI,” he said.
He stressed that the transformation Malaysia seeks is not merely a government agenda but a social movement that must begin at home.
“It begins with small steps at home – educating our children, interacting with neighbours, and contributing to the local community,” he said.
Fadillah added that government agencies will continue to play their role as facilitators, but real success lies in the people internalising MADANI values as a way of life.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Sarawak Day 2025 celebration, themed ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur: Segulai Sejalai’, was highlighted by Fadillah as a reflection of the state’s strong commitment to unity and inclusive development.
He called on communities to take ownership of the celebration by flying the Sarawak flag and the Jalur Gemilang, participating in local events, and using the occasion to foster stronger interethnic ties.
“The government remains committed to advancing Sarawak through infrastructure development, education, economic opportunities, and the preservation of racial harmony.
“Let us make this Sarawak Day the beginning of a renewed spirit of unity, community participation, and local economic growth – and together realise the vision of a truly progressive and prosperous Sarawak,” he added.
The workshop, held from July 18 to 20, involved a total of 54 participants from the state constituencies of Tupong, Samariang and Satok.
