SIBU: A free health screening cum government mobile services programme, organised by Brooke Drive Neighbourhood Committee (KRT Persiaran Brooke) under the Ministry of National Unity at the building next to Xin Fu Church in Brooke Drive here recently, received an overwhelming public response.
According to KRT Persiaran Brooke’s Chairperson, Melinda Wong, a total of 1,032 various screenings and services were conducted during the event.
She informed that the health screening included body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, blood glucose, dental, eye, hearing test, pap smear, clinical breast examination, and colon cancer kit, while mobile government services encompassed Sibu Welfare Department, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Health exhibition.
Medical doctors, dentists, audiologists, optometrists, medical assistants and government officials, she further stated, were present to cater to the services required by the public.
“We hope this health screening will help in identifying if you are at risk or have any condition or disease that you don’t know about. No doubt early detection results in better management and treatment of the disease, which increases the chances of better health outcomes.

“Besides health screening, various government departments had gone to the ground to set up booths to offer their respective services. For this, EPF is also providing full EPF services.
“Sibu Welfare Department had also come to help in the application for the Kenyalang Gold Card, Senior Citizen Medical Benefits, and also application for various assistance. All the relevant information had indeed benefited greatly all present,” she enthused.
Prevention is better than cure, Wong pointed out, adding “it is our fervent hope that in togetherness, we strive towards a healthy society and a strong Malaysia MADANI”.
