KUCHING: Integrity and sustainability were highlighted as the twin pillars of lasting progress, which called on public servants to uphold honesty, accountability, and ethical conduct in all aspects of governance.
According to Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the event, themed “Teguh Berintegriti, Lestari Memacu Industri,” emphasised that good governance and moral responsibility must remain at the heart of Sarawak’s public service to ensure continued prosperity for its people and environment.
“Integrity is not a slogan; it is the reflection of one’s true character. Good governance is not merely a guideline, but the foundation of public confidence,” he said during the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) Integrity Day 2025 celebration here on Wednesday.
The address reminded public servants that they are entrusted with a sacred responsibility to serve fairly and transparently, aligning with the 13th Malaysia Plan’s focus on strengthening governance and ensuring equitable prosperity.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, speaking on Awang Tengah’s behalf, urged civil servants to build a culture of integrity that rejects abuse of power and promotes ethical consistency.
“Let us do what is right even when no one is watching. That is the true measure of integrity,” he said.
He also underscored that integrity and sustainability are inseparable.
“Without integrity, sustainability cannot be achieved; without sustainability, progress cannot endure,” he said.
Len concluded by urging everyone to hold firmly to three lasting commitments: zero tolerance for corruption, transparency in every decision, and accountability for every action.
“There can be no compromise when it comes to integrity. Let us remain transparent in what we decide, responsible in what we do, and united in rejecting corruption in all its forms,” he reminded.
