BINTULU: The Transfusion Medicine Department and Blood Bank at Bintulu Hospital is currently facing a critical shortage of type A blood and is appealing to eligible donors with this blood type to come forward and help replenish supplies.

According to the hospital, the stock of type A blood has reached an alarming level and it needs to be replenished urgently to ensure continued treatment for patients requiring emergency care, surgeries, and on-going treatment for chronic conditions.

“Residents with type A blood are urged to donate at the Bintulu Hospital Blood Bank or participate in any mobile blood donation drive in the area.

“The public is also reminded to observe the recommended interval between donations to ensure they are eligible to donate again,” the hospital said.

For details on blood bank operating hours or upcoming donation campaigns, members of the public may contact Bintulu Hospital directly or visit its official social media platforms.
