MIRI: People in the northern region of the state have been told to fully utilise the Sarawak Digital Community Centre (DCC) at premises of Kampung Bakam Women’s Bureau here.
The centre has been refurbished for the purpose of providing community training so that the users will not be left out of the digital economic transformation mainstream.
A total of 42 DDCs were launched virtually last Oct 8 by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.
The local digital community centre is open from 8am to 5pm daily, except on public holidays.
The target groups are children, women, special needs individuals, members of village security and development committees (JKKKs), entrepreneurs, youth and non-governmental organisations.
The centre is equipped with facilities for various types of skills training, consultation and counselling, youth meeting, free internet facilities reference materials.
The establishment of the centre is an initiative of the state government in collaboration with the State Library, Ministry of Local Government and Housing, Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE), National Library of Malaysia, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) and many more.
