KUCHING: The much-anticipated ‘Malaysia Reads Moment and Sarawak Reads’ programme returns this year with the theme ‘Savour the Moment’, encouraging Malaysians to appreciate the present through the simple yet profound act of reading.
The highlight of the event, Jom Baca Bersama for 10 Minutes 2025, is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (April 23), from 11 am to 11.10 am, and will be officiated by Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee.
The official launch will be held at the Gallery, Sarawak State Library (Pustaka).
According to Pustaka, the theme serves as a gentle reminder to live in the present moment, free from the weight of the past and worries of the future.
“Reading teaches us to slow down, calm the mind and immerse ourselves in the worlds that unfold within the pages of a book.
“As the nation prepares to pause for 10 meaningful minutes of reading, let us collectively Savour the Moment and allow literature to lead us toward a more reflective and enriching life,” Pustaka said in its statement.
In conjunction with the event, members of the public are also invited to participate in two supporting competitions which is Digital Poster competition in conjunction with Jom Baca Bersama and Book Review Video competition on TikTok.
These activities aim to further promote a culture of reading among Malaysians of all ages and backgrounds, with participation encouraged from all locations—be it at home, school, or the workplace.
Those interested are invited to submit their participation reports via the official website at: https://www.ppas.gov.my/jombacabersama
