PUTRAJAYA: The Light and Motion Putrajaya (Lampu 2018) Festival will once again bring an exciting array of night time attractions as well as light and motion shows at Dataran Putrajaya, Precinct 3 from today until New Year’s Eve.
The Lampu festival, which has been organised every year since 2013, is an annual event
awaited eagerly by visitors to Putrajaya.
This year, it will continue to showcase its signature event, the mesmerising lighting technology mapping the facade of the grand Palace of Justice during the four nights of the festival.
Speaking to the media during the preview of Lampu 2018, Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim said PPj is the organiser of Lampu, this year’s
theme would be ‘Colours of Putrajaya’.
“This year Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to make an appearance during the New Year countdown,” he said.
Aminuddin said each segment of the video projection mapping shown on the facade of the court building is for 40 minutes and will be played repeatedly from 9pm to 12.30am.
In addition, he said 20 other side lighting events will also be organised in collaboration with PPj, Putrajaya Holdings and Kuala Lumpur City Hall as well as several other companies.
“This includes various displays of fascinating multimedia effects and lively imageries using the state-of-the-art lighting mapping technology, luminous structural designs constructed at the heart of the boulevard that will attract visitors, hologram paths and Lampu E-Sport Arena,” he said.
One million visitors are expected to attend the four-night Lampu 2018 and steps have
been taken to manage traffic, he said.
“We encourage people to use the free shuttle buses serving the route from Putrajaya Sentral and the Putrajaya International Convention Centre to the site of Lampu2018,” he said.
He said on New Year’s Eve, Lampu 2018 will feature digital fireworks and fireworks. –Bernama
