KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) has expanded its technical expertise and knowledge through active participation at Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan recently.
Led by its director Dr Cassidy Morris, the department made various technical visits and had strategic discussions during the five-day international event, held from Jul 9 to 13.
The expo, themed ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, attracted global leaders and experts sharing insights on innovative technology, smart infrastructure, and sustainable construction methods.
Sarawak PWD said its participation aligns closely with Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the department’s ‘We Build For You’ initiative, which focuses on smart infrastructure, green cities, and adopting digital technology.
“Throughout the visit to Osaka, the Sarawak PWD director participated in various technical visits and strategic discussions focusing on cutting-edge engineering technologies and eco-friendly construction materials.
“Several technologies with strong potential for implementation in Sarawak were identified during these sessions.
“This active involvement provided the department with opportunities to learn new approaches, establish international collaborations, and share experiences with other countries,” it said in a statement.
Sarawak PWD expressed commitment to advance its role in delivering modern and sustainable infrastructure, positioning the state towards greater progress and resilience on the global stage.
“These steps are essential in reinforcing Sarawak’s journey towards becoming a more advanced and sustainable state,” it added.
